This month, we’re spotlighting a downtown gem—La Vie En Coffee Bar & Bakery on Wenatchee Avenue. This recommendation comes from our Alpine Group agent, Kendra, who shared:
"I’m someone who loves staying busy, being creative, and connecting with my community. With a background in Business Administration and Marketing, I’ve built a strong foundation in organization, branding, and communication, which I’ve used to fuel my many side passions. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats; event coordinator, cake baker and decorator, and even the creator of a “locals only” newsletter that celebrates everything special about Cashmere, WA. I’m passionate about supporting local businesses, and you can often find me enjoying a pastry from La Vien Bakery, I love this bakery for the ambience and kind staff. I love meeting clients or colleagues there (they have comfy chairs)!! I love turning everyday moments into little adventures, whether I’m discovering new spots in town or adding my own creative touch to projects. At the heart of everything I do is family, I’m lucky enough to be engaged to my high school sweetheart, and together we’re building a life rooted in love, laughter, and a deep connection to our hometown.”
La Vie En opened its doors in October 2020, born from the dream of co-owners Rebecca Watkins and Christina Plunkett. What started as a shared vision quickly became a beloved local spot, with lines out the door on their very first day. Since then, the bakery has only grown in popularity, known for its handcrafted croissants, baguettes, tarts, macarons, and seasonal specialties that showcase creativity and care in every bite.
Their coffee program is equally special. Using Fonte’s Uptown Espresso roast—a creamy, low-acid Italian roast handpicked by Plunkett—they focus on letting the coffee speak for itself. While their drinks stay true to coffee-forward traditions, they also embrace the seasons with unique, house-made syrups like rose and dark chocolate for Valentine’s Day or real pumpkin spice in the fall.
Inside, the café feels like stepping into a cozy European home, with antique furniture, vintage touches, and even a green armoire that once belonged to Plunkett’s grandparents. The open design allows customers to watch the bakers and baristas at work, creating a warm and welcoming environment.
Whether you stop in for a buttery almond croissant, a rich espresso, or simply to unwind in one of their armchairs, La Vie En offers a taste of European charm right here in Wenatchee.
