January Edition

Pacific Gyotaku

For our first edition, we reached out to our agents to hear about the local businesses they love. Whitney couldn’t wait to share her pick: Pacific Gyotaku! Here’s what she had to say:

“There is a local artist who is new to our area named Tyler Jensen, he has a gallery at 217 9th St Suite E in Leavenworth. The business name is Pacific Gyotaku. He does dead mount prints, mainly of fish. I really like his take on art, and its representation of the PNW and more specifically, our local salmon species. We have a Pacific rockfish print, which is a species that Ryan loves to spearfish for on the WA coast. Someday I’d like to buy a larger print of salmon, which is something we fish for in Leavenworth. I think it’s fun to be reminded of where our food comes from.”

Nestled in the charming Bavarian town of Leavenworth, Pacific Gyotaku is a one-of-a-kind art gallery blending creativity, tradition, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Artist Tyler Jensen specializes in gyotaku—the Japanese art of fish printing—creating stunning, detailed impressions of fish, plants, and animals. With roots in 19th-century fishing traditions, this unique process uses eco-friendly inks and rice paper to capture exquisite textures and patterns. Whether you’re looking for custom art, vibrant reproductions, or artisan gifts, Pacific Gyotaku offers something unforgettable. Visit their gallery or connect online for a true Northwest treasure!
